SOCCER MAY NOT BE OUR RELIGION, BUT IS IS DEFINITELY BECOMING OUR SPORT IN THE USA!

The 2014 World Cup is shaping up to be one of the best in years. As we near the end of the first round, a lot of goals and surprise advancements have happened. Some big Euro teams are already out and first time teams like Greece advance to the knockout rounds. The USA vs Germany match TODAY, will probably be the most watched USA game...ever! Football aka Soccer has FINALLY taken a foothold in the conscience of America, like the new frontier of some kind. It took awhile (a very long time actually), but now that we are here...GO USA!!!!

World Cup Fever

Well unless you live under a rock, World Cup fever has taken over the planet! I am scouring the web to find you some of the best and fun things happening during the World Cup. If you have never listened to any of the Latin America broadcast of the games you are in for a treat and you do not need to speak Spanish to understand!

Switzerland just pulled off a fantastic win to beat Ecuador. I thought it would be a draw, but that is the great thing thing about soccer, it doesn't end until the fat lady sings!

Tomorrow the USA plays Ghana in Natal. They have had an unusual amount of rainfall...
36 hours of rain (read here). I have always enjoyed games played in the elements, like American Football in the snow or rain, but it also raises the injury potential. All I can say is...YIKES!!!

WORLD CUP OPENING CEREMONY (IN SPANISH)

The opening ceremony just took place in Sao Paulo. Of course this is not the Olympics...more like a halftime or Superbowl show, but I liked it! It was about 20 minutes long, but here is little clip for you to enjoy! Featuring Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull and accompanied by Claudia Leitte during a performance of the official song "We Are One."

A New Song For World Cup

Here is Kelly Rowland's new song -The Game for the World Cup Pepsi Beats Beautiful Game. Video is directed by Spike Lee. Catchy tune...

By the way if you are passing though Miami International Airport, they have 31 days of games. The celebration will highlight the soccer-themed attractions being held at the airport, including Brazilian music and dance performances, interactive mini-soccer fields and Nintendo Wii Soccer game stations.

Here is another take on the World Cup and six books that explain the frenzied interest in the World Cup...lol!

INSANE SOCCER SKILLS

This is like watching the Harlem Globetrotters with a ball!!  Would be nice to see some of these mad skills during the World Cup!

There seems to still be some resistance to soccer on the part of some Americans. I completely do not agree, but here is look from the other side. I wonder what it would take to change his mind??? Hum...

IS BRAZIL READY FOR THE WORLD CUP?

This is the question on the minds of many people. I know the excitement level of watching some great and maybe some not so great soccer matches, is still thrilling, but I have a little knot in my stomach pertaining to some of those new stadiums. I personally would feel very uncomfortable going to a stadium that is untested on capacity use. There have been a few deaths in the building process and behind the scene stories of potential corruption and cutting corners. This makes a recipe for disaster, but I am an optimist and really hope that the Brazilian people put their best face on for the world. Obviously the cost of doing so was too high a price to pay for some Brazilians. We hear this morning that there is a strike at the airport and that traffic is a nightmare. Despite the fact that the roof of the stadium in Sao Paulo is not complete, today is game time and I hope that the Brazilians (some of the biggest fans in the world), show the world why soccer IS a religion to them. Best of luck, we will all be watching! #worldcup #worldcup2014 #bibiadventures

WORLD CUP HUMOR

I don't know how many of you know John Oliver. He is a British guy that has a new program on HBO called Last Week With John Oliver and the guy is hilarious. He too is a major soccer fan and is looking forward to the World Cup and conflicted at the same time, as am I.  He said it better then me...so check it out!

LAST WEEK WITH JOHN OLIVER

Funny and disturbing at the same time. I truly hope Brazil is ready for the world.  I considered the Brazilians, some of the major soccer fans of all time. After all we have to remember it is a RELIGION in many countries. Sports a Religion??? Hummm.....we might have to discuss!

And now for another fabulous woman who is trying to get Americans on the "FOOTBALL" wagon...I had to go there!
